MRS.MARNALI
Mrs. Marnali – The Pop Art Artist
Mrs. Marnali is one of the stars of the contemporary Pop Art scene. She celebrates art as a luxurious pleasure, combining well-known icons with modern artistic techniques in a unique style. Whether it’s Karl Lagerfeld, the Birkin Bag, a Porsche, or a $100 bill – Mrs. Marnali retells the stories of pop culture in a refreshing and colorful way. She employs various techniques, from digital printing and screen printing to the fascinating, multi-perspective lenticular technique. Her Pop Art is art you can touch – direct, vibrant, loud, and full of energy.
Since 2017, the Berlin-born artist, who now lives in Mallorca, has been staging the icons of Pop Art in luxuriously designed and humorously captivating artworks and sculptures. Through her pieces, she brings the dazzling stories of Pop Art legends such as Madonna, Lady Gaga, Brigitte Bardot, and Karl Lagerfeld to a new, creative level. But her work is not just about colorful illustrations – behind each piece lies a complex concept that tells new stories. Alongside the motifs, shapes, materials, and innovative techniques play a crucial role in her artistic expression.
MarnaliArt – Art You Can Touch
Authentic MarnaliArt pieces are immediately recognizable by their high-quality craftsmanship, unique depth, and distinctive tactile experience. This is particularly true for works from her Flower Collection, which have a tangible, immersive quality – touching is expressly encouraged! Her artworks are not just meant to be seen but experienced. Mrs. Marnali works with mixed media, combining digital printing and screen printing with special materials such as crystals, gold, silver, and even diamond dust. She uses aluminum plates, Plexiglas, and mirrors as her base materials, sometimes applying heat to deform them, adding an extra three-dimensional effect.
The result: Marilyn Monroe in a surreal frenzy of colors, a “Last Supper” featuring supermodels as a wild party in an escape room, or a gigantic $100 bill (1.80 x 0.73 meters), where Donald and Daisy Duck cheekily portray Benjamin Franklin.
Lenticular Technology and the Secret of the “Birkin Bag”
In her latest collection, Mrs. Marnali employs lenticular technology, allowing multiple perspectives to be presented within a single image. Depending on the viewer’s angle, different layers and scenes emerge – from exterior and interior views of an object to impressive before-and-after effects. Inspired by historical anamorphoses and louvered paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, she modernizes these techniques with precision craftsmanship and a touch of humor.
A standout example of this technology is her artwork featuring the Birkin Bag. Depending on the viewing angle, the classic exterior of the famous Hermès handbag is revealed – or, alternatively, its unexpected contents: lipstick, a compact mirror, sunglasses, a vibrator, and more. With this work, Mrs. Marnali playfully explores the age-old question: What’s inside a woman’s handbag?
The Personalized Pop Art Concept: “Be Art”
Her self-developed concept, “Be Art,” is becoming increasingly popular. Here, Mrs. Marnali collaborates directly with clients to create highly personalized Pop Art pieces based on their wishes – whether it’s their favorite handbag with customized contents or a beloved vintage car turned into an artistic statement. The possibilities are endless!
BIOGRAPHY
Mrs. Marnali was born in Berlin and has lived in Mallorca with her three children since 2018. Her artist name, “Marnali,” is an acronym combining the first names of herself and her late husband, Marko. Marko, a renowned people photographer, worked with global icons such as Lady Gaga, Johnny Depp, Karl Lagerfeld, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie. Through his profession, he met Natalie, who comes from a well-known Berlin photographer dynasty. A trained makeup artist, graphic designer, and stylist, she also collaborated with many international stars, including Kevin Spacey, John Goodman, Heidi Klum, and Eva Padberg.
In 2017, the couple began creating Pop Art pieces together, based on Marko’s photography. In 2018, they moved to Mallorca, where they held their first vernissage – a sold-out success within just 40 minutes. Their extraordinary exhibitions, featuring live shows, DJs, and high-profile guests, quickly became one of Mallorca’s most sought-after art events.
In September 2024, Marko Marnali passed away after a year-long battle with a severe illness. Since the onset of his illness, Mrs. Marnali has carried the MarnaliArt brand forward with passion and dedication. Her works continue to be exhibited in the Marnali PopArt Gallery in Palma’s old town, where she regularly welcomes fans and art lovers.
Through her art, she not only keeps the legacy of great Pop Art pioneers like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein alive but also reinvents it for the 21st century with her own unique style and innovative techniques. MarnaliArt remains an art form that touches – visually, emotionally, and tangibl
