911 Burnout
 
Ein Porsche, der Feuer fing, eine in Brand geratene Industriehalle,
ein Künstler inmitten eines Burnouts.
 
Ideale Voraussetzungen für das Entstehen eines neuen
Upcycling-Kunstwerks Chappers!
 
Der einzelne Kotflügel des Porsche F-Modells hing bereits zwei Jahre
über Terrys Werkbank in seinem Atelier. Es fehlte einfach das passende
Back-Plate.
 
Er hörte von einem Brand einer Lagerhalle in der Nähe seines Ateliers
und fuhr tags darauf zu jenem Ort. Die Aufräumarbeiten waren im
vollen Gange. Auf dem angrenzenden und videoüberwachten Bereich
des Parkplatzes sah er dann das 100 % matching Back-Plate,
in Form einer zerstörten Feuerschutztür.
Die Patina, die Größe und das Material konnten für seine Zwecke
nicht besser sein.
 
Es handelte sich zwar um Schrott, jedoch einfach mitnehmen bedeutete
Diebstahl. Eine direkte Kontaktaufnahme des Eigentümers gestaltete
sich schwierig. In den darauffolgenden Wochen stattete Chapper
dem Schuttberg noch einige Besuche ab. Diese blieben wohl
nicht unbeobachtet, denn eines Tages klebte ein Zettel am
Objekt seiner Begierde, darauf stand:
 
„Die Antwort ist Ja, Sie dürfen den Schrott (Tür) mitnehmen!“
Triumphierend lud er ein und begann alsbald mit der Hochzeit
beider Teile.
 
Der 911 Burnout war geboren.

The lone fender of the Porsche F-model had been hanging
above Terry’s workbench in his studio for two years.
All that was missing was the right back-plate.
 
He heard about a fire in a warehouse near his studio
and drove to the site the next day. Cleanup was already
in full swing. In the adjacent, video-monitored section
of the parking lot, he spotted a 100% matching back-plate—
in the form of a destroyed fire door.

The patina, the size, and the material could not have been
more perfect for his purpose.
It was scrap, yes, but simply taking it would mean theft.
Contacting the owner directly proved difficult.

Over the following weeks, Chapper made several return visits
to the rubble heap. These did not go unnoticed, because one day,
a note appeared on the object of his desire. It read:
 
“The answer is yes, you may take the scrap (door)!”
Triumphantly, he loaded it up and soon began
uniting the two parts.
 
The 911 Burnout was born.
